As a ballet lover i’m always excited when there’s a
ballet scene in a movie that i’m watching. There’s this one particular scene
that stuck in my memory from the movie Hana and Alice. Towards the end of the
movie, Arisugawa (played by the ever charming Yu Aoi) was auditioning for a
magazine. When the photographer learned that Arisugawa does ballet, he asked
her to dance in front of him. And so there’s a MacGyver moment where she asked
for some paper cups and duct tape from the staff and made a pair of make-shift
pointe shoes out of it!
Accompanied by a beautiful BGM, Arisugawa started dancing
and everyone in the room was dumb struck. I don’t know how she manage to stand
on her toes wearing paper cups. She even pirouette in them.
Finally, the lovely scene ended with her doing arabesque.
The photographer’s assistant/secretary (?) who was out
side taking a phone call during the whole dancing scene, scolded him for making
a school girl in a short uniform skirt dance like that. And when he told her to
pick Arisugawa as the model, she gave him a stink eye accusing him of seeing
the girl’s underwear, which the photographer vehemently denies. Well, to his defense, he did asked if Arisu need some tights and she said no.
Here's the video:
